MOST ASKED QUESTIONS!
Q - What do we need to bring to go swimming at the creek?
* - modest swimsuit, old shoes or flip flops, towel lots of sunscreen!
Q - Is the water safe to drinkat the church / dorm?
* - It is out of fresh springs and you should bring water bottles to refill!
Q - How much people interaction with the navajos will we get?
* - Daily we will be working with the Navajo staff at the school, church, and some at a childrens home.
- Sunday we will worship in a church service, dress casual (jeans etc.)
(come prepared to get involved with the music, after ch fellowship, and maybe a sermon)
- Tuesday & Thursday nights open gym outreach or community basketball courts
- Wed night mid week service at the local churches
(We are their guests and we try not to overwhelm them but mold into there activities etc. AND TRY TO BE KIND OF CONSERVATIVE IN DRESS ETC.!.)
Q - Is there ice for our igloos on the work projects?
* - We make our ice and some can be purchased in town 1 miles away from a Bashas store.
Q - What is the daily temperature?
* If you watch the weather channel and just north of Winslow Arizona is Dilkon. We are at 6,000 elevation a little higher than Denver Colorado. Look at the weather channel and we are about the same temp as Denver! Usually the Summer day time temps will be in the 90's and the nights in the 60's.
Q ‑ Will my cell phone work on the reservation?
* Very limited Some CELLULAR ONE AT&T phones work. Pay phone with a phone calling card can be used at the Bashas.
Q - We can’t raise a lot of extra money for projects, what should we do?
* All of the projects at the Dilkon are already paid covered. The other projects are extra
and above for the Nazarene Church and the Navajo Childrens Home. Please don’t feel pressure we just want everyone to come and serve and be blessed!
Q - What types of tools are most needed?
* water bottles, shovels, hammers, gloves, picks, towels
Q - Do we need to bring our own bedding or does the dorm have blankets, etc.
* You will need to bring sleeping bags or your own bedding. And towels and toiletries. Some groups just buy bedding at walmart in Winslow and the we give them to families in the community!
Q - Are we using our own vehicles for transportation to the Grand Canyon?
* If you get to the Rez on your own transportation you will need to use that everyday and the special trips etc.! If you rent our bus then it takes you all week.
Q - Is there any place to wash clothes
* 1 miles to a laundry mat.
Q - Also do the kids need any shot records or is the permission slip enough
* No shots are needed and the permission slip is all that is needed. We are in the U.S. and their families insurance is the primary.

Q - What are the nightly activities available?
* Monday -
_canvas neighborhood
* Tuesday - _Community Center outreach Youth Night ? (if there is room)
_Basketball, Bands, outreach service
* Wednesday _Mid week church services _Basketball or Volleyball fun city courts Hay ride
* Thursday _Open night service, or open gym with 14yr old students and up
(These are suggested activities every week. If you want to have your own services etc. we will have space each night to best accommodate your groups needs)
Q - I see that we are staying in Dilkon at a reservation, dorm room style. What else can you tell me about this location? (name? how many per room? bathroom/shower situation? Air conditioned How far is DilKon from where we will be stationed at?
* We stay at the Dilkon Nazarene Church! We have bunk beds and large cots for lodging and Meals are: Sunday Breakfast, Monday - Friday morning 3 meals a day!
Q - Where are the projects?
We are working on work projects at the school also some around town and at the Dilkon Nazarene church.
Q - What other available food is nearby? Fast food? Cooking facilities?
* We provide 3 meals a day and there is a small pizza place and a Churches chicken, Pizza and convient store within 1 miles .
Q - What is the nearest airport? (Phoenix? still 4 hours away)
* Phoenix is still the best and closest airport to fly into.
Q - What missionaries or Nazarene ministers/churches will we be working with?
· We will be working with Navajo District Superintendent, Reuben Nells his son, head of the Dilkon School facility and grounds director, Pastor Ferlin Nez Pastor of the Dilkon Nazarene Church, Navajo Christian Fellowship Children home and community center. Also several surrounding churches in Leupp, Testo, and Cedar.
Q – What skilled labor do you need.
* This summer we are doing everything from pouring a basketball court to brick and remodeling kitchens.
Q – How strenuous is the hike up Wildcat Canyon?
* About a medium difficult level. The tight squeeze at the entrance of the cave is for 250 pound and under!
Q __ What meals will you provide on Sundays?
* Breakfast only, after morning worship there will be at least snacks for whole church and community. Sometimes a poptluck which when invited we stay for lunch
Q__What time will the training be on Saturdays?
* When you arrive and get settled in then we will start the cultural training!
Q__ Will Breakfast be provided on Fridays?
* Breakfast is cereal donuts as most groups head out realy for the Grand Canyon etc.!
Q__What if we can bring some VBS type materials, can we find areas of need?
Q__ What is the meal schedule again for the week?
Q___Does everyone stay in the same bunk room or is there a separate room for males and females?
Q___ Is there a minimum age limit?
*JUNIOR HIGH AND UP IS THE BEST AGE. IF YOUNGER A PARENT WILL NEED TO BE WITH ETC.
